World Famous Audio Hacker has been RELEASED! Uh, actually, he explains himself.
For those of you who have been following the "jailing" of World Famous Audio Hacker, there is a denouement of sorts. Here's World Famous in his own words:
"For two weeks, I had fun playing along with a fictitious story that I had been arrested in Portland for playing mash-ups live at a club called the 'Glitch Lounge'. Even more interesting were the e-mails of both support and criticism I received from people around the world. If you want to see the archive of the two week 'hoax', I have it archived here.
"In general, I didn't do it for any real reason. Actually, while I was building the skeleton of this new site, I just wanted to post some test content. I didn't actually expect that anyone was frequenting the site, so I thought it would go by without notice, but would perhaps give a couple people something to laugh at.
"Instead, a number of people caught it and ran with spreading the word -- most of them already knowing it was a joke. As a result, I kept up with new updates to the arrest situation while I enhanced the back-end of the site."

Not quite pure marketing genius, just a parody gone unintentionally viral. Mash-ups are, indeed, NOT a crime — at least not one that will get you arrested by RIAA lawyers under charges of "copyright terrorism."
So enjoy the music!
