Bookshelf: "For Her", created by Jim Rosenau of Berkeley, California
While searching for the most efficient and interesting ways to store books, I stumbled onto two extensive posts from WebUrbanist:
"20 Unusually Brilliant Bookcase and Bookshelf Designs: Creative, Modular and Unique Furniture"
and
"15 (More!) Unusually Brilliant Book Shelving Systems: Creative and Modular Urban Furniture".
One link I clicked on led me to many other bookshelves (see above image as an example of what I found).
With these new additions, this blog's "bookshelf furniture" category has at least quadrupled in items. Enjoy!

Some great bookcases here - I need an entire wall, but to build one, then take it with us when we leave, would be tricky. Consequently I have books scattered all over the apartment (in shelves, too, but there are too many to fit in all the shelves).
Happy 2009! Hope it is a wonderful year for you!

Tara! So good to see your comment here. I've been to busy to even think about being busy -- I have some projects wrapping up soon, and I'll be back to more consistent blogging in a bit. I definitely owe a visit to your blog...
Ah, books...your comment says much.
Here's to a happy 2009 to you, too. :)

A ha! A bookcase fetish!
I am reading a book about personality - and it confirms what I have known for ages: that you can tell a lot about a person based on their music and book collections.
And I daresay, on closer inspection, you can tell much about a person based on the bookcase they use to house their precious collections ;)

Gavin! Happy new year to you. :)
Your point about personality correlations with types of bookshelves really got me thinking...
