I went through an obsessive Orwell phase, when I was living - down and out - in a squat in Haarlem in the Netherlands (that's also when I last read Animal Farm and 1984). I still think he's brilliant, as are these tips. I'll have to write them down. A moment of happiness, coming across them on your blog today :)

Plus you prompted me to start listening to Amy Winehouse. Excellent and quite certainly rather mad (in the English way).

Waspgoddess — Thanks for your Orwell memories. He is brilliant, I agree. Where would the world be today if it weren't for his works?

If you want to SEE some rather mad (and quite amazing) Amy Winehouse, go to YouTube and look for her "Rehab" video. Amazing song, very intense, incredibly unique musical orchestration.

She is a true original and a very talented musician, but I hope she doesn't succumb to her vices as so many musical greats have done. It will be interesting to see where she decides to take her success.
