These everyday scenes inspired me to take out the camera.
1. This vibrant shade of turquoise caught my eye. After showing a friend this photo, she told me that robin mothers drop hatchlings' shells far away from the nest to lead predators away from it. That explains why I found this under a short hedge with no nests in sight; the other half was 10 feet away under another low hedge.
2. My guess is that there will be enough watermelon to get everyone through the summer. I was captivated by the repetition and scale in this found pattern.
3. The fuzzy white line resembling sea foam on green waves rolling onto a basalt sand beach is made of cottonwood seeds that floated down and stuck to grass next to a basketball court. (People in the area had horrible allergies that day.)
